CREA/WERC - NDSoR Evaluating Curricular Resources for ELA Adoption-VIRTUAL & BISMARCK OR WATFORD CITY [MULTI-DAY SERIES]

Description

This offering introduces school teams to characteristics of high-quality instructional ELA materials and provides an opportunity to explore multiple curricular resources.

Presession Virtual Connection (1 hour)-Select Option #1 or Option #2 
Teams will meet virtually to review expectations and prepare materials prior to attending the in-person session in either Bismarck or Watford City.

 Face-to-Face Full Day Training: Select Option #1 (Bismarck) or Option #2 (Watford City):

  • Part 1 (Morning Session):
    Participants will:
    • Define the Science of Reading (SoR)
    • Review North Dakota’s SoR legislation
    • Access and apply the ND SoR Curriculum Evaluation Guide
    • Learn how to make data-based curricular decisions
  • Lunch (on your own)
  • Part 2 (Afternoon Session): Exploration of Resources
    Participants will:
    • Examine curricular resources aligned to each strand of Scarborough’s Reading Rope
    • Narrow prospective selections
    • Review materials from the ND SoR curriculum guidance document 
  • Part 3: Implementation Support (VIRTUAL)
    Participants will:
    • Share prospective selections with colleagues
    • Connect with vendors
    • Begin planning for professional learning and coaching
