CREA - Trauma Sensitive Schools (TSS): A New Perspective on Student Behavior and Learning - June 6-10, 2022 Sessions

Module 1 - Introduction to Childhood Trauma: is designed to provide an overview of the effects of childhood trauma and its impact on student behavior and learning by defining trauma, discussing the prevalence of trauma, and introducing the concept trauma-informed systems.

Module 2 - Neurobiology of Trauma & Resilience: provides a basic overview of how trauma impacts brain development and learning.  The Adverse Childhood Experiences Study is also highlighted to illustrate the lasting effects of trauma on long term health.

Module 3 – Trauma-Sensitive Strategies Part 1: provides insight into how to increase psychological safety, rationale for trauma screening, and emphasizes focusing on strengths.

Module 4 – Trauma-Sensitive Strategies Part 2: highlights enhancing coping skills, engaging families, and making mental health referrals.

Module 5 – Taking Care of You: provides an understanding of secondary traumatic stress and delivers strategies for supporting yourself when impacted by students dealing with trauma.
