Learn more about the impact of trauma on student learning and behavior and consider assisting your school/district in building local capacity to deliver the Trauma Sensitive Schools: A New Perspective on Student Behavior and Learningprofessional learning curriculum through the Trauma Sensitive Schools: Training of Trainers.
This dual-purpose registration includes two pathways for participants:
Option 1: Assist your school/district in building local capacity to deliver the Trauma Sensitive Schools (TSS) professional learning curriculum by becoming a trainer of TSS.
Cost is $300 per participant. (Any ND Behavioral Health Resource Coordinator or current, active TSS Trainer can register and attend at no cost.)
This offering includes:
Option 2: Learn more about the impact of trauma on student behavior and learning through participation in the virtual Trauma Sensitive Schools course.
Cost is $50 per participant.

Objectives of the Training of Trainers include:
Deliver TSS curriculum with confidence,
Understand how to access the ND Trainers Network,
Access trauma related resources,
Promote the TSS curriculum.
On Trauma Sensitive Schools: One in four children have been exposed to a traumatic event that may have a lasting impact on the well-being and functioning of students and their families. By understanding how trauma impacts students and adopting a trauma-informed approach, educators can play a crucial role in mitigating both the short- and long- term effects of trauma. This interactive workshop will leave you with a renewed commitment to reach some of the most vulnerable students and their families.
Objectives: Participants will
Understand the term child traumatic stress and know what types of experiences constitute childhood trauma.
Understand the impact of trauma on the brain development and behavior of children.
Learn how the impact of traumatic stress can be prevented and/or mitigated by use of trauma-informed responses and strategies.
Identify “secondary traumatic stress” and learn strategies for taking care of you
Describe a framework for creating a “trauma-informed” culture.
