Description

This Professional Learning Community (PLC) is designed to provide targeted professional development and support for teachers from overseas, particularly those coming from the Philippines, as they transition and teach in North Dakota schools. 

The goal is to create a supportive network where teachers from overseas can thrive professionally and personally while addressing the unique needs of their school communities. 

Through this PLC, teachers will have opportunities to gain knowledge, understanding, and practice, focusing on key areas such as: 

•Culture and Transition: Navigating the cultural shift and adapting to new school and community environments. 

•North Dakota State Standards: Understanding and applying state standards in daily instruction. 

•Building Relationships and Creating Culture: Fostering strong connections with students, colleagues, and communities. 

•NDSA and ND A+: Gaining familiarity with North Dakota’s assessment systems and academic expectations. 

•Standards Integration: Embedding standards meaningfully across content areas. 

•Effective Teaching Strategies Panel: Learning from experienced educators through interactive panel discussions. 

•AI in the Classroom: Exploring emerging technologies and their impact on teaching and learning. 

•Hot Topics in Education: Addressing current challenges and trends affecting today’s classrooms. 

Teachers will have a voice in shaping session content, ensuring that training topics remain relevant, practical, and responsive to their needs. This expanded PLC initiative aims to build community, enhance instructional effectiveness, and ultimately improve outcomes for both teachers and students across North Dakota.
