DESCRIPTION

This virtual, six-hour workshop is for paraeducators/tutors and their supervisors

All the adults in a school - including paraeducators and other support staff - have a part to play in modeling responsible behavior and contributing to students' success. 

Participants will learn:

  • How to be a part of the school team
  • Supervision of common areas and independent work periods 
  • Work with small groups or individuals while building relationships with students through increasing their 
    • Positive interactions,
    • Teaching expectations for behavior 
    • Correcting misbehavior effectively. 

Based on Parapro: Supporting the Instructional Process, this course gives paraeducators the information they need to support students in a way that allows them to focus more on schoolwork and less on misbehavior.

NOTE: This workshop allows for 100 participants per offering. Please register by January 11th to ensure that the book, ParaPro: Supporting the Instructional Process will be delivered to your school in time for the training.

It will be repeated throughout the two-year grant, providing flexible access for school personnel during contract time and within school year calendars. 

DELIVERY:  This single-day training will be delivered VIRTUALLY.

AUDIENCES:  Afterschool Program Staff, Paraprofessionals, Special Educators, and Substitute Teachers 

CREDIT:  This training will count for 6 hours of Cafeteria Credit (for those eligible for Graduate Credit).
