PREREQUISITE: Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling K-12 (LETRS) Volume 1
OBJECTIVE: LETRS® provides K-12 educators with an in-depth understanding of the science behind teaching literacy and gives them the background and depth of knowledge to teach language and literacy skills to every student. Designed to be the cornerstone of a multiyear, systemic literacy improvement initiative, LETRS® is the most respected comprehensive professional development course for instructors of reading, spelling, and related language skills.
Volume 2 of this professional learning series focuses on the following units:
- Unit 5: The Mighty Word: Oral Language and Vocabulary
- Unit 6: Digging for Meaning: Understanding Reading Comprehension
- Unit 7: Text-Driven Comprehension Instruction
- Unit 8: The Reading-Writing Connection
AUDIENCE: Educators who have completed LETRS Volume 1 (Units 1-4)

DELIVERY: This series will be delivered as a combination of online and face-to-face sessions.
CREDIT: 2 per semester; total of 4 per year
